How to avoid spelling mistakes with B and V

According to Royal Spanish Academy, b is the second letter of the Spanish alphabet and is called be. The v is the twenty-third letter of the Spanish alphabet and is called uve. The two have a similar sound so it leads to countless spelling mistakes.

We must not forget that reading a lot is essential to learn to write well, so we remind ourselves once again how important it is for our children to start with the habit of reading from an early age.

We always insist on the idea that learning through games, tongue twisters, riddles, stories and poetry is more fun for children.

Experience tells us that it is difficult to know and memorize all the spelling rules, especially when there are exceptions, therefore, if we want to learn to write well, we must be very observant and have little tricks that help us remember the correct spelling of the spelling. words. I leave you some trick that I hope can help you:

- Up, down, up and down are always written with b.

- Write, and all verbs that end in bir, (perceive, conceive, succumb etc.), are written with b, minus the verbs, boil, serve and live, which are written with v.

- As we know, to write we use words, and words are the union of syllables, if we relate them to each other, it will be easier to remember that the three words (and their derivatives), write, word and syllable are written with b.

- Have you noticed that the seasons of the year are written with v? Winter spring summer.

- Do you know that youall the numbers, nine, nineteen, twenty-nine, etc. are they all with v?

- And that the months of the year are written with b? February, April, September, October, November, December. (November has the v and b), because the words that contain the syllables, bra, bre, bri, bro, bru are always written with b.

- There are words such as bouncing or voting, that as they are written with v or with b they have different meaningTherefore, we must be very careful and pay attention to the context of the sentence to write them well. For example:

1. We went to vote at the polls, (give our vote to someone).

2. We went to bounce the ball, (throw the ball against a hard surface to make it jump). Then it would be misspelled to say 'We went to the ballot box' or 'We went to vote the ball'.

I remind you of the games 'Spelling' and 'The guardian of the B' and 'The guardian of the V' to continue practicing with the letters.

Children's poetry is always a great resource for children to learn by playing. I leave you one of my poems to continue working with the different spelling rules of our protagonists today and I leave you a phrase ofSaint Teresa of Jesus to reflect: 'Read and you will lead, don't read and you will be led.'

There is always the v

with the adjectives,

grave, eighth, slave,

new, brief, active.

I will warn you

they are not adversaries,

d and v love each other

Just the opposite!

The cow with v
