In these particular cases, nausea ceases upon reaching the second trimester of pregnancy, as the placenta begins to function at full capacity. On other occasions, more hormones are involved in the onset of nausea, such as estrogens and thyroxine, in which case they usually prevail up to about 20 weeks.

In the worst case, the onset of extremely severe nausea and whose duration can reach the entire pregnancy it can have an unknown origin, so the only thing that can be done is to treat them medically and with the diet.

The most indicated foods to mitigate the sensation of nausea are:

  • Complex carbohydrates, which are characterized by being slowly assimilated, are another of the key foods to control nausea. On the other hand, protein foods and fatty foods or foods with a large amount of oils are usually associated, as a general rule, with the opposite result.
  • Dried fruits They are another ally when it comes to fighting nausea, since, in addition to helping to mitigate them, they provide very valuable energy and nutrients for both the mother and the fetus.
  • The vitamin B6According to relatively recent studies, it is able to reduce the unpleasant sensation of nausea. In addition to nuts, vitamin B6 can be found in other highly recommended foods, such as whole grains, bananas or avocados.
  • Dry foods, such as pretzels or crackers. In general, liquid foods consumed on an empty stomach tend to increase the risk of nausea, so it should be avoided, especially first thing in the morning.

Additionally, eating small meals relatively frequently so that the stomach never becomes empty and staying well hydrated are good habits so that nausea does not make life impossible for us.
